We all know oats are heart healthy, but beets are heart healthy too! This steel cut oatmeal gets it's beautiful color from red beets. For a super heart healthy breakfast, try this oatmeal and you will be pleasantly surprised! If you don't have date sugar, you can blend 2 dates with 2 tablespoons of water in a blender as a substitute, or you can use 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey.

  • 1/4 cup Steel Cut Oats
  • 1/4 cup diced red beets (raw - 1/4" dice)
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 Tbs Date Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom (optional)
  • 1 Tbs ground flaxseed


  • 1 Tbs mini vegan chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 strawberries (sliced)
  • 2 Tbs Pomegranate seeds (optional)
