Teriyaki Sauce:

Special Equipment:

  • Blender (High speed blender works best) Like this Blendtec - or this Vitamix
  •

    Preparation Method:

Bring the first 7 ingredients (tamari through mirin) to a boil in a sauce pan. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Pour the mixture into a blender and blend until dates are dissolved and the sauce is smooth.

In a small bowl, dissolve the corn starch in the cold water.

Return to blended sauce to the pot and pour in the cornstarch mixture while whisking. Heat the sauce over medium heat and bring to a simmer, allowing the cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Simmer for 2 minutes and remove from the heat. Stir in the sesame seeds.

Use the sauce immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
